Things About January
Sometimes the Saxons called January the wolf month because hungry wolves would come into towns searching for food.
In Finnish, the month of tammikuu means the heart of the winter and because the name literally means “oak moon”, it can be inferred that the oak tree is the heart of the grand forest.
The name of the full moon occurring in January is the wolf moon.
I’ve had a trying end to December. Along with the usual imposter syndrome, and worries about the thing that cannot be named, I have really, really missed my family. Christmas is always difficult, but this year more so.
I just wanted to share this with you as I know I’m not on my own. Just to say that we are all needing a bit of self love and care. So be kind to yourself. I’m counting on 2022 to bring some happy reunions, I have lots of cuddles to make up for!
Luna Legends Serialisation
As you know, the free serialisation of the first part of Season I Thunder Moon finished just before Christmas.
The episodes of the second part of this season, Barley Moon commences on Friday January 7th. These, and future, instalments will be for paid subscribers only. You can pay monthly or annually (obviously cheaper) but it barely equates to a cup of coffee a month.
In return you will receive:
All weekly instalments of the Luna Legends Series for the year
A free digital copy of each book, once it has been serialised
Other giveaways and promotions including free copies of books from my back catalogue.
And you will also continue to receive my twice monthly newsletters which will also be available on the free subscription.
A Very Short Story
And finally, one of my most liked submissions on Twitter to the hashtag #vss365, from December. I have been doing these daily scribbles for over a year now and I’m addicted to the habit.
My fingers trace the runes carved in the leather cover and I lurch into a flashback to a time I don't recognise. My mouth goes dry and the hair prickles on the back of my neck, like tiny kisses. The papers are love letters to me, written in sepia and dated 100 years ago.
Have a Happy, Healthy and Safe 2022! And I look forward to our inspired dream catching and story weaving.
Ciao
JoAnna
Oh and if you haven’t yet had time to complete my very short reader questionnaire no worries, you can still do so. Only four questions, take a minute tops, and will help me plan content for this year. Thank you!
